Microchipping
As of 10th June 2024, it will be compulsory for all cats to be microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks old.
I'm currently qualified to microchip cats under Peddymark, and I am ensured with Westminster Insurance.
What is a Microchip?
A pet microchip is typically a very small ID tag that is inserted under the skin roughly around the area between the shoulder blades. Once registered, it has all the details of their name, age, colour and owner's details to help with reunification if a pet were to go missing, get stolen or injured.
Is it compulsory?
As of 10th June 2024, microchipping will be compulsory for all cats before they reach the age of 20 weeks old. If your cat isn't microchipped and is over 20 weeks old at the time of the new law, you must get your cat microchipped to avoid a £500 penalty.
Who can microchip your pet?
Only trained professionals or vets can micrcochip your pet/cat.
You can always book an appointment with your local vet or search online for a qualified microchip implanter near you.
Price
For each cat, the microchipping will cost £10
If you have more than one cat that needs microchipping at the same time, there will be a small discount for each additional cat.
How does it all work?
The only thing you will need to do is to prepare a safe space for the kitty in your home.

I will personally bring all the equipment to your home and have the paperwork at the ready.

The process of microchipping itself is fairly quick, it may cause some discomfort however that does dissipate quite quickly.

Once the microchipping itself is complete, I will provide you with the microchip number and initiate transfer of keepership via email.

Microchipping your pets allows that peace of mind knowing that if in the unlikely event of going missing/stolen, that microchip will have all your details: address, email, contact numbers so that someone can help your furbaby come back home to you.
